Sketchbook Project 2011

The Sketchbook Project  is a traveling art exhibit hosted by Art House Co-Op.  To participate you must buy a sketchbook from them, fill it up and mail it back.  All the sketchbooks will be included in a tour of various parts of the country and will ultimately end up as part of the Brooklyn Art Library.  This is a slideshow of the book I created.

Mother Earth art doll journal spread

I printed out pictures of my art doll and made a journal spread.  The pages are made with paint, tissue paper, napkins, painted paper towels, glue, stencils, white gel pens, and black pens.

Mother Earth art doll

This is the art doll I created for the Mother Earth art doll reader's challenge in Cloth Paper Scissors magazine.  I was a finalist but did not make the final cut for publication in the magazine.  She is about a foot tall and made of patchwork quilted fabric, embroidery, and hand applique.  Her hair is strips of blue silk and silver threads with snow flakes.  I gave her to my best friend for her 50th birthday.  It so nice when you know your art went to a good home!
